Using Custom Fields in Cirrus

There are many places where you can configure Custom Fields in Cirrus, which can be mapped elsewhere

You can use Custom fields for:

  • Collecting information on Account Sitedrops
  • On Checklists
  • On Contact Types

Example 1:

You can map Custom Fields into Checklist by creating Form Fields on your SiteDrop with the same "Tag" as the Form Fields on on Checklists.

Here are the steps:

Create the custom fields on the SiteDrop

  1. Navigate to Administration > System Setup > SiteDrop Links > Find your application/sitedrop  > Click Actions > Edit.
    1. This is how you get to all SiteDrops in your system to edit
    2. Or, on the right side of the screen, you can create a New SiteDrop.
  2. To edit Form fields, click the Form Fields Tab
  3. Add the field or fields you want using the button on the top right of the screen. Be sure to notice the different types of fields to choose from!
    1. If using a field that has a value selection you can designate, separate the options with a semi colon.
    2. Pick a unique tag name for each field you create.
  4. Once saved, you will see a tab for Form Fields
  5. You will create the same form fields here, but they must have identical tag names for mapping purposes.

Tag Names must be unique, using the naming convention of a lowercase word with any secondary word having the first letter upper-case, with no spaces.

Examples:
- Good: customTagName, customField, addressLineOne
- Bad: CustomTagName, Custom Field, AddressLineOne

Create the custom fields on Checklists (system-wide/all Checklists, or specific checklist types)

  1. Go to Administration > Checklist Setup > Checklist Types and select the Checklist Type you would like to map your fields from your sitedrop to
  2. OR
  3. Go to Administration > Custom Fields > and select the object you would like to map these fields to (Checklists, Contacts, DocTitles, or Checklist Contacts). This most common in this scenario would be Checklists or possibly DocTitles.
  4. Recreate the Form field making sure to replicate the unique Tag Name that you designated on the fields in your Sitedrop.

The magic of mapping!

Once the above steps have been completed, when a SiteDrop is submitted and mapped to a Checklist (manually or automatically based on your configuration and Edition of Cirrus), then those fields will appear in the Additional Information section of your checklist

Tip: Make your custom field names shorter so they display well in the Additional Information panel on the right side of your checklist screen.

Example 2:

Add Custom fields to Contact types. You can collect more than the standard fields on Contacts, and use them to merge information into PDF forms!
